The funny thing is turbo back then was running the CPU at its specced speed, and slowing the speed down by a lot when you turned turbo off.

Now when you turn turbo off it will be anything up to the maximum rated speed for the cpu. Turbo will be above maximum specced speed by a percentage margin, and only held for a short time as long as the CPU is within its thermal envelope, sometimes on all cores, sometimes in a subset of them

It's very interesting as to how it changed from downclocking the cpu to boosting cpu frequency in a matter of a decade give or take a few years.

Boost buttons were so cool to have on case front panels just aesthetically pleasing all round.
